Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups unsalted butter (or margarine)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste (optional)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco)
  • 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice level)
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
 

Melt the Butter:

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Sauté Aromatics :

  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the Liquids :

  • Stir in chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and lemon juice.

Incorporate the Spices:

  • Gradually add the brown sugar, paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.

Simmer the Sauce:

  • Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend the flavors.

Taste and Adjust:

  • Taste the sauce and adjust the spice, sweetness, or saltiness to your preference.

Serve:

  • Remove from heat and serve warm as a dip or pour over your favorite seafood boil.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter to control the salt level in the sauce.
  • For extra tang, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or more lemon juice.
