Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ tsp almond extract
  • 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup (30g) sliced almonds (optional, for topping)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven:
    Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream Butter & Sugar:
    In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add Wet Ingredients:
    Mix in the egg and almond extract until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
    In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Form the Dough:
    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Chill the Dough (Optional):
    Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes for firmer cookies.
  • Shape & Bake:
    Roll the dough into small balls, place them on the baking sheet, and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired.
  • Bake:
    Bake for 9–11 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
  • Cool & Enjoy:
    Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough helps create thicker, chewier cookies.
  • Almond extract enhances the flavor, but you can reduce the amount if you prefer a milder taste.
