Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (or mix-ins of choice)

Instructions
 

Step 1: Heat-Treat the Flour

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Spread the flour evenly on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 5 minutes to kill any bacteria. Let it cool completely before using.

Step 2: Make the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt, and mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add the heat-treated flour and stir until a smooth dough forms.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips or other mix-ins.

Step 3: Enjoy!

  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Heat-treating flour is essential to kill any potential bacteria. Do not skip this step!
  • The dough will firm up in the fridge; let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before eating.
  • For a softer dough, add an extra tablespoon of milk.
