- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional for thickening)
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
Prepare the chicken: Pat dry and season with salt and black pepper.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Make the sauce: In the same pan, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Stir and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
Thicken the sauce (optional): Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir into the sauce. Simmer until thickened.
Coat the chicken: Return the chicken to the pan and coat with the sauce. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or vegetables.
