Cuisine Mexican
- 1 (3 oz) box orange-flavored Jell-O
- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup cold water
- ½ cup tequila (silver or gold)
- ¼ cup grenadine
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Maraschino cherries (optional, for garnish)
- Small plastic shot cups
Prepare the Orange Jell-O Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the orange Jell-O powder in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved. Add Alcohol: Stir in ½ cup cold water and ½ cup tequila. Mix well. Fill the Cups: Pour the mixture evenly into shot cups, filling them about ¾ full. Refrigerate for about 1.5-2 hours or until firm. Add the Grenadine Layer: Once the Jell-O has set, pour about ½ teaspoon of grenadine into each cup. The grenadine will naturally settle at the bottom, creating the iconic layered sunrise effect. Garnish (Optional): Top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry for extra flair. Serve & Enjoy: Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
-
For a stronger shot, slightly reduce the cold water and increase the tequila.
-
Use a dropper or spoon to carefully add the grenadine for a more precise layering effect.
-
Do not freeze the Jell-O shots, as they may lose their texture.
