Desi Street Style Paneer Burger
Ingredients
- 200 gram paneer (cottage cheese), cut into thick slices
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup yogurt
- 4 burger buns
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp mint-coriander chutney
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise or hung curd
- ½ cup shredded cabbage or lettuce
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 small tomato, sliced
- ½ tsp black salt
- Oil for shallow frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Paneer: In a bowl, mix red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, chaat masala, and lemon juice. Coat the paneer slices with this mixture and let them marinate for 10 minutes.
- Make the Batter: In another bowl, mix cornflour, all-purpose flour, and yogurt with a little water to form a smooth batter.
- Coat the Paneer: Dip the marinated paneer into the batter, then coat it with breadcrumbs for a crispy texture.
- Fry the Paneer:Heat oil in a pan and shallow-fry the coated paneer slices until golden brown on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the Buns:Toast the burger buns with butter on a tawa (griddle) until slightly crispy.
- Assemble the Burger: Spread mint chutney and mayonnaise (or hung curd) on the bun. Place shredded cabbage or lettuce, followed by the fried paneer, sliced onions, tomatoes, and a sprinkle of black salt.
- Serve: Cover with the top bun, press gently, and serve hot with fries or potato wedges.
Notes
- You can grill the paneer instead of frying for a healthier option.
- Adjust spices based on your preference for heat and flavor.
