History:
The “ooey gooey butter cake” originated in St. Louis, Missouri, during the 1930s when a baker accidentally used the wrong proportions of butter in a cake recipe. The result was a dense, rich, and gooey dessert that became an instant hit. Over time, creative bakers have added flavors like pumpkin, lemon, and apple pie — turning the traditional treat into endless variations of deliciousness.
