For the crust:
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the filling:
- 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
In a bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until a thick dough forms.
Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
Spread the apple pie filling evenly over the crust.
In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then blend in powdered sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the apple filling and spread evenly.
Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown around the edges but still slightly gooey in the center.
Cool slightly before serving.
- Don’t overbake — the center should remain gooey.
- Use spiced apple pie filling for extra flavor.
- You can use white or butter cake mix instead of yellow.
- For added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans on top before baking.
