For the Cookies:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract (optional)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
For the Decorations (Optional):
- Royal icing or melted chocolate
- Food coloring
- Sprinkles
Step 1: Make the Cookie Dough
In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using), and mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
