- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Melt butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add garlic: Stir in minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in heavy cream: Reduce heat to low and slowly add the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Incorporate Parmesan cheese: Gradually add Parmesan cheese while whisking to create a smooth sauce. Season: Add salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using), stirring well. Simmer: Let the sauce cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately over pasta or protein of choice. Garnish with fresh parsley.
