Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground pork
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 1 green bell pepper (chopped)
  • 2 celery stalks (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 green onions (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Optional traditional ingredient:

  • ½ cup finely chopped chicken livers

Instructions
 

  • Cook the Rice:
    Cook the rice in chicken broth according to package instructions. Set aside once done.
  • Brown the Meat:
    Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef or pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  • Add Vegetables:
    Add chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 4–5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
  • Add Seasonings:
    Stir in paprika, thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Combine Rice and Meat:
    Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix well so the rice absorbs all the flavorful juices.
  • Simmer:
    Cook for another 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    Top with sliced green onions and fresh parsley before serving.
