Ingredients
  

  • 1 double pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 6 cups thinly sliced fresh apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Place bottom crust in a 9-inch pie dish.
  • In a bowl, mix apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  • Spoon apple mixture into crust and dot with butter.
  • Cover with top crust, sealing edges and cutting small slits for steam.
  • Bake for 45–50 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
  • Cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance.
  • Let pie cool before slicing for firm filling.
  • Cover edges with foil if browning too quickly.
  • Add a splash of vanilla for extra flavor.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
