- 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 3 large onions, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons lard or vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 6 cups beef broth
- 2 medium potatoes, cubed
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
