For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb  ground beef
- 1 lb  Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 6 oz  tomato paste
- 1  tsp  dried basil
- 1  tsp  dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Ricotta Mixture:
- 15  oz  ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup  grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp  dried parsley
For the Layers:
- 12  lasagna noodles, cooked
- 2  cups  shredded mozzarella cheesex
- 1/2  cup  grated Parmesan cheese
Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic until browned. 
- Drain excess fat, then stir in marinara sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes. 
Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley. Mix until smooth. 
Assemble the Lasagna:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). 
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish. 
- Layer with lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella and Parmesan on top. 
For a richer flavor, prepare the meat sauce a day ahead and let it sit overnight.
