Ingredients
  

For the Meat Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Ricotta Mixture:

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

For the Layers:

  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheesex
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

Prepare the Meat Sauce:

  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic until browned.
  • Drain excess fat, then stir in marinara sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:

  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley. Mix until smooth.

Assemble the Lasagna:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer with lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.

Bake:

  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Rest and Serve:

  • Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, prepare the meat sauce a day ahead and let it sit overnight.
