For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Ricotta Mixture:
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried parsley
For the Layers:
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheesex
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Prepare the Meat Sauce:
In a large skillet, cook ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic until browned.
Drain excess fat, then stir in marinara sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley. Mix until smooth.
Assemble the Lasagna:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Layer with lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
For a richer flavor, prepare the meat sauce a day ahead and let it sit overnight.
