Ingredients

  • 20 whole dates (Medjool preferred), pitted
  • 10 bacon slices, cut in half
  • Toothpicks (for securing)
  • Cream cheese or goat cheese
  • Almonds or pecans
  • Chili flakes or honey drizzle

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper or foil.
  • If desired, stuff each date with cheese or a nut.
  • Wrap each date with half a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  • Place wrapped dates seam-side down on the baking tray.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, turning once halfway, until bacon is crisp and golden.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Medjool dates work best due to their size and softness.
  • Line the tray well, as bacon releases fat while cooking.
  • Toothpicks make handling and serving easier.
  • Serve warm for the best texture and flavour.
  • Optional fillings add variety and richness.
