Cuisine American
- 12 large sea scallops
- 6 slices bacon, cut in half
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional, for glaze)
- Toothpicks
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Preheat oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Partially cook bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon for 2-3 minutes until it begins to render fat but remains pliable. Remove and let cool slightly. Prepare scallops: Pat scallops dry with paper towels and season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Wrap scallops: Wrap each scallop with a half slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Bake: Place scallops on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Broil for crispiness: For extra crisp bacon, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end. Glaze (optional): Brush with maple syrup or honey in the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve: Garnish with lemon wedges and serve immediately.
