For the Chicken
- 10 chicken drumsticks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
For the BBQ Glaze
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack.
Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels.
In a large bowl, toss the drumsticks with olive oil, paprika, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and oregano until evenly coated.
Arrange the drumsticks on the prepared wire rack, leaving space between each piece.
Bake for 30 minutes, turning the drumsticks halfway through cooking.
Meanwhile, whisk together the barbecue sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika.
Brush the drumsticks generously with the barbecue glaze and bake for another 15–20 minutes, brushing with additional sauce once more during the final 10 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Remove from the oven and let the drumsticks rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Pat the chicken dry for crispier skin.
- A wire rack allows hot air to circulate evenly.
- Apply barbecue sauce only during the final stage of baking.
- Homemade or store-bought barbecue sauce both work well.
- Adjust the spice level by increasing or reducing chili powder.
- Let the chicken rest before serving to retain its juices.
- Leftovers make great wraps and sandwiches.
- Double the recipe easily for parties or meal prep.
