Ingredients
  

  • 500 g beef sirloin or ribeye, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Wooden or metal skewers
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sake (optional)

Instructions
 

  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20 minutes.
  • Thread beef cubes evenly onto skewers.
  • Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Grill skewers for 2–3 minutes per side, until nicely charred and cooked to desired doneness.
  • Brush with sauce during the final minute if using.
  • Remove from heat, garnish, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Choose tender cuts of beef.
  • Do not overcook to keep beef juicy.
  • High heat gives best char.
  • Sauce is optional but flavourful.
  • Serve immediately.
