Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 300 g ground beef
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

For the Pastry

  • 12 samosa wrappers or spring roll sheets
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons water (to make sealing paste)

For Frying

  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and golden.
  • Stir in garlic, ginger, and green chili. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  • Add cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the beef is fully cooked and the mixture is slightly dry.
  • Stir in chopped cilantro and allow the filling to cool completely.
  • Fold the wrapper into a cone shape, fill with the beef mixture, and seal the edges using the flour-water paste.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan to medium-high heat. Fry samosas until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve hot with chutney or dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Allow the filling to cool before stuffing the samosas.
  • Do not overfill the wrappers to prevent tearing.
  • Seal edges tightly to avoid oil entering during frying.
  • Use medium heat for even frying.
  • Ground lamb can substitute beef.
  • Frozen samosas can be fried later.
  • Spring roll wrappers work well for quick samosas.
  • Add peas or potatoes for variation.
