Shruthi
Beerbecue Beef Flank Steak is a grilled beef dish featuring flank steak marinated in beer, barbecue sauce, garlic, and spices. The beer helps tenderize the meat while adding depth and richness to the flavor profile. After marinating, the steak is grilled until perfectly charred and juicy. The result is a flavorful, tender, and satisfying main course ideal for barbecues and family dinners. Its combination of smoky, sweet, and savory flavors makes it a standout grilling recipe.

Ingredients

For the Steak

  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 1 cup beer (lager or amber ale)
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For Garnish

  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Grilled lemon wedges

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together beer, barbecue sauce, olive oil, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Heat the grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  • Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the used marinade. Grill for 5–7 minutes per side for medium-rare or until desired doneness.
  • Transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice thinly against the grain and garnish with parsley and grilled lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Flank steak is ideal because it absorbs marinades well.
  • Longer marinating times improve flavor and tenderness.
  • Amber ales provide a richer flavor than light beers.
  • Always slice flank steak against the grain.
  • Resting the steak preserves its juices.
  • A meat thermometer ensures perfect doneness.
  • Charcoal grilling adds extra smoky flavor.
  • Leftovers are excellent in wraps and salads.
