Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  • Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and beans. Stir to combine.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, and fresh cilantro.

Notes

  • For a spicier chili, add extra cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños.
  • Letting the chili sit for a few hours or overnight enhances its flavor.
  • If you prefer a thicker chili, reduce the beef broth or let it simmer longer.
