Ingredients

  • 1 lb cooked lobster meat (claw, knuckle, and tail)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (for Maine-style)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped chives or parsley
  • 4 split-top hot dog buns
  • Extra butter for toasting buns
  • Lettuce leaves (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the lobster meat: Chop the cooked lobster into bite-sized pieces.
  • For Maine-style rolls: In a bowl, mix lobster meat with mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and chives. Chill for 10 minutes.
  • For Connecticut-style rolls: Heat butter in a pan over low heat. Toss lobster meat in the melted butter until warmed through.
  • Toast the buns: Spread butter on the sides of the hot dog buns and toast them in a skillet until golden brown.
  • Assemble the rolls: Place lobster mixture in the toasted buns. Add lettuce if desired.
  • Serve immediately with chips, coleslaw, or fries.

Notes

  • Use fresh lobster for the best flavor, but frozen cooked lobster meat works as well.
  • Avoid over-mixing the lobster to maintain its natural texture.
  • For a more citrusy flavor, add extra lemon zest.
