- 1 cup rolled oats
- ¾ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- ½ cup plain yogurt (Greek or regular)
- 1 medium apple, grated (leave peel on if you like)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (helps keep apple fresh and adds brightness)
- 1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
- ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts)
In a bowl, combine rolled oats and milk. Mix well and cover.
Refrigerate for 4–8 hours or overnight to soften the oats.
Add yogurt, grated apple, lemon juice, and sweetener.
Stir in chopped nuts and fresh fruits.
Serve chilled and garnish with extra fruit or nuts if desired.
- Traditional Bircher Muesli uses grated apple with skin for fiber.
- Lemon juice prevents apple from browning and adds freshness.
- Can be made dairy-free using plant-based milk and yogurt.
- Best consumed within 24 hours for freshness.
- Sweetener can be adjusted or omitted.
