Ingredients
  

  • Corn tortillas
  • Cooked black beans (canned or homemade)
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ground cumin
  • Chili powder
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Shredded lettuce or cabbage
  • Diced tomatoes or salsa
  • Avocado slices or guacamole
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges

Instructions
 

  • Lightly brush tortillas with oil and bake or pan-toast until golden and crisp.
  • In a skillet, sauté onion in oil until soft; add garlic and cook briefly.
  • Stir in black beans, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper; mash slightly and heat through.
  • Spread warm beans over each tostada shell.
  • Top with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, cheese, and cilantro.
  • Finish with a squeeze of lime and serve immediately.
