Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup Irish whiskey
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Irish Whiskey Glaze

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup Irish whiskey

Optional Garnish

  • Powdered sugar
  • Chopped pecans
  • Gold sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 10-cup Bundt pan thoroughly.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine sour cream, Irish whiskey, and vanilla extract.
  • Alternately add the dry ingredients and sour cream mixture to the butter mixture. Fold in nuts if using.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter with sugar and water over medium heat until dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in Irish whiskey.
  • Poke holes in the warm cake and slowly pour half of the glaze over it while still in the pan. Let rest for 15 minutes, then invert and drizzle the remaining glaze over the top.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing.
