Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 Cups Powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Milk or heavy cream
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla extract (or other flavorings as desired)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, and continue to beat until well combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  • Add the milk or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, and continue to beat until the desired consistency is achieved. Add more milk for a softer frosting or less for a stiffer frosting.
  • Incorporate the vanilla extract (or other flavorings) and beat until fully mixed. For different flavor variations, you can use extracts such as almond, lemon, or mint.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to achieve the desired shade. Mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  • Once the buttercream is ready, it can be used immediately for frosting cakes or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator until needed. Bring it to room temperature and re-whip before using.
