Ingredients

  • 4 butterfish fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges and fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Marinade :
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, ginger, and honey (if using).
  • Marinate the Butterfish :
Place the butterfish fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag. Pour the marinade over the fish, ensuring it’s well-coated. Refrigerate for 30 minutes (optional).
  • Heat the Pan :
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the Butterfish :
Remove the butterfish from the marinade and pat it dry. Season with salt and pepper. Place the fillets in the pan, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve :
Transfer the butterfish to a serving plate. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh parsley. Serve hot with rice, vegetables, or your favorite side dish.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh butterfish. If using frozen fillets, ensure they are fully thawed and patted dry.
  • Avoid overcooking to maintain the fish’s tender texture.
