Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup melted butter or oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a baking pan or skillet.
  • In a bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, mix buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
