- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork (optional)
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
In a skillet, cook beef, pork, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, rice, and seasonings. Simmer 5 minutes.
Spread half of the chopped cabbage in the baking dish. Layer with half the meat mixture. Repeat layers.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, top with cheese, and bake 15 minutes until melted.
Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
