Ingredients

  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 can (16 oz) pork and beans
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) butter beans, drained
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Drain the excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, mix all beans, cooked bacon, and beef.
  • Combine ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Pour the sauce over the bean mixture and stir to coat evenly.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and bake uncovered for 1 hour until hot and bubbly.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use different beans like navy, pinto, or black beans for variety.
  • Do not drain the pork and beans—they add moisture and flavor.
  • Substitute turkey bacon and lean beef for a lighter version.
  • The casserole can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • It tastes even better the next day as flavours deepen.
