Ingredients
- 9 cups Chex cereal or similar crispy rice/corn cereal
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup mini chocolate candies
- ½ cup mini pretzels
- ½ cup chocolate-coated candies
Instructions
- Place the cereal in a very large mixing bowl. Make sure the bowl is large enough to allow you to gently toss everything without crushing the cereal.
- Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until smooth and completely melted.
- Stir the vanilla extract into the warm chocolate-peanut butter mixture.
- Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal. Using a large spatula, gently fold until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Transfer the coated cereal to a large resealable food-storage bag or a large container with a lid.
- Spread the Muddy Buddies onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow them to cool for approximately 15–20 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Use a large mixing bowl so the cereal has plenty of room for coating.
- Melt chocolate gently to prevent scorching.
- Stir the chocolate mixture until completely smooth before adding it to the cereal.
- Avoid crushing the cereal while mixing.
- Powdered sugar should be added while the chocolate coating is still slightly soft.
