Ingredients
  

For the Casserole:

  • 3 cups cooked chicken (shredded or cubed)
  • 1 ½ cups diced ham
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese (or mozzarella)

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Topping:

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  • Layer the ingredients:
    Spread the chicken evenly at the bottom of the dish, then add the ham on top. Sprinkle with Swiss cheese.
  • Prepare the sauce:
    In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
    Add flour and stir for 1 minute until slightly golden.
    Slowly whisk in milk and cream until smooth.
    Stir in Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Pour the sauce over the layered chicken, ham, and cheese in the baking dish.
  • Make the topping:
    In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, melted butter, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the casserole.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use Gruyère cheese instead of Swiss cheese.
