For the Casserole:
- 3 cups cooked chicken (shredded or cubed)
- 1 ½ cups diced ham
- 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese (or mozzarella)
For the Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For the Topping:
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
Layer the ingredients: Spread the chicken evenly at the bottom of the dish, then add the ham on top. Sprinkle with Swiss cheese. Prepare the sauce:In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.Add flour and stir for 1 minute until slightly golden.Slowly whisk in milk and cream until smooth.Stir in Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened (about 3-5 minutes). Pour the sauce over the layered chicken, ham, and cheese in the baking dish.
Make the topping:In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, melted butter, and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the casserole.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
For a richer flavor, use Gruyère cheese instead of Swiss cheese.
