Tender marinated chicken, fresh veggies, and tzatziki sauce wrapped in pita – a delicious homemade Greek Chicken Gyro!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine olive oil, Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add the sliced chicken to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes (or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for about 6-8 minutes per side until fully cooked.
  • Warm the pita bread in a dry pan or microwave.
  • Assemble the gyros by spreading tzatziki sauce on each pita, then adding the cooked chicken, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and feta cheese.
  • Wrap the pita and enjoy your homemade Chicken Gyros!

Notes

For an authentic taste, marinate the chicken overnight. You can also grill the chicken for a smoky flavor.
