Cuisine American
- 12 thick-cut bacon strips
- 8 ounces (225 g) dark chocolate, chopped
- 4 ounces (115 g) white chocolate (optional, for drizzle)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate)
- Flaky sea salt (optional)
- Chopped roasted almonds, pecans, or pistachios (optional)
- Colorful sprinkles (optional)
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
Arrange the bacon strips in a single layer on the rack and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until deeply browned and crispy.
Transfer the cooked bacon to paper towels and allow it to cool completely.
Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth. Stir in the coconut oil if using.
Dip each cooled bacon strip halfway or fully into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off.
Place the coated bacon on a parchment-lined tray.
Drizzle with melted white chocolate and immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt, chopped nuts, or sprinkles if desired.
Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
- Thick-cut bacon works best because it stays crisp after coating.
- Make sure the bacon is completely cool before dipping it into the chocolate.
- High-quality chocolate produces the best flavor and texture.
- Avoid overcooking the chocolate to prevent it from seizing.
- Add toppings while the chocolate is still wet.
- Refrigerate until fully set for clean handling.
- Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
- Enjoy within three days for the best texture.
