For the Pie Crust

For the Chocolate Filling
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 3 cups milk
- 4 egg yolks (beaten)
- 120g dark chocolate (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Meringue
- 4 egg whites
- ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a saucepan, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and salt.Gradually add milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
Temper egg yolks with a small amount of hot mixture, then add back.Cook for 2–3 minutes until smooth and thick.

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
