For the Cake
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Custard Filling
- 1½ cups whole milk
- 4 egg yolks
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Glaze
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon butter
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
Beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
Heat milk and butter until warm; slowly mix into egg mixture.
Fold in dry ingredients and vanilla.
Bake until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
Slowly combine and cook until thick; stir in vanilla and cool.
Heat cream, pour over chocolate and butter, stir until smooth, then glaze the cake.
