For the Olive Salad:
- 1 cup green olives, chopped
- ½ cup black olives, chopped
- ¼ cup giardiniera, chopped
- 2 tablespoons capers
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Black pepper to taste
For the Sandwich:
- 1 large round muffuletta or sesame bread loaf
- 6 slices mortadella
- 6 slices salami
- 6 slices ham
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 6 slices mozzarella cheese
In a bowl, combine all olive salad ingredients. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Slice the bread horizontally and hollow slightly if needed.
Spread half of the olive salad on the bottom half of the bread.
Layer mortadella, salami, ham, provolone, and mozzarella evenly.
Top with remaining olive salad and close the sandwich.
Press gently, wrap tightly, and let rest for 30 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
Slice into wedges and serve.
