Ingredients
  

  • 1.5–2 kg pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (plus extra for serving)
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Pat the pork dry and rub with olive oil.
  • Mix paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, pepper, and salt. Rub evenly over the pork.
  • Place pork in a slow cooker and add chicken broth and vinegar.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or until the pork is very tender.
  • Remove pork and shred using two forks.
  • Return shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with barbecue sauce.
  • Cook for an additional 20–30 minutes to absorb flavors.
  • Serve hot as desired.
