Ingredients
  

For the Dressing:

  • 4 cups crumbled cornbread (day-old preferred)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or turkey drippings)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, onion, and celery.
  • Add melted butter, eggs, and broth. Mix well.Stir in sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish.Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown on top.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.Add flour and whisk to form a roux.
  • Cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.Gradually add broth while whisking.
  • Simmer until thickened.Season with salt and pepper.
  • Spoon warm dressing onto plates and drizzle generously with gravy.
