  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 cup crushed candy (e.g., Jolly Ranchers or sour candy powder) or colored sugar crystals
  • Toothpicks or skewers

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Grapes: Wash and dry the grapes thoroughly. Insert a toothpick or skewer into each grape for easy handling.
  • Make the Sugar Syrup:
    In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and vanilla extract (if using). Heat over medium-high heat until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
  • Dip the Grapes:
    Working quickly, dip each grape into the hot sugar syrup, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  • Roll in Toppings:
    Immediately roll the coated grape in crushed candy or sugar crystals. Place on a parchment-lined tray to set.
  • Chill (Optional):
    For a firmer coating, refrigerate the grapes for 30 minutes before serving.
