- 12 oz (340g) fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) water
- 1/4 cup (60ml) orange juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Rinse the cranberries and remove any soft or damaged ones.
In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, water, and orange juice.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin to pop (about 10 minutes).
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens.
Stir in the orange zest and vanilla extract, if using.
Remove from heat and let the jam cool to room temperature.
Transfer the jam to sterilized jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
-
For a smoother jam, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture before adding the orange zest.
-
Adjust the sugar to taste if you prefer a less sweet jam.
