Ingredients

  • 12 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Pat the shrimp dry and toss them with Cajun seasoning to coat evenly.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter and add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well and let it simmer for about 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Stir in Parmesan cheese, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Mix until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  • Add cooked pasta and shrimp back to the skillet. Toss everything together so the pasta is fully coated in the creamy Cajun sauce.
  • Sprinkle fresh parsley and optional red pepper flakes. Serve hot with extra Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Fresh shrimp provides the best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning depending on your spice preference.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for a smoother sauce.
  • Reserve some pasta water to thin the sauce if needed.
  • Linguine or fettuccine works best for creamy sauces.
  • Do not overcook shrimp or they will become rubbery.
  • Add mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
