Ingredients
  

For the Casserole:

  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (optional for extra creaminess)

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk or half-and-half
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed Ritz crackers
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spread cooked chicken evenly in a greased baking dish.
  • Layer diced ham over the chicken.
  • Sprinkle Swiss cheese and mozzarella on top.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour to create a roux.
  • Slowly whisk in milk and chicken broth until smooth and thickened.
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the creamy sauce evenly over the chicken, ham, and cheese.
  • Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden and bubbling.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • Swiss cheese gives classic flavour, but Gruyère is an excellent upgrade.
  • Add cooked broccoli for extra nutrients.
  • Use panko for a crispier topping.
  • Adjust mustard to taste for more sharpness.
