Ingredients

  • 4 triggerfish fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme or parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fillets:
Rinse the triggerfish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Marinate the Fish (Optional):
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Brush the mixture onto both sides of the fillets. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes for enhanced flavor.
  • Cook the Fish:
    Pan-Seared Method:
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil and cook the fillets for 3–4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature of 145°F/63°C).
    Grilled Method:
Preheat the grill to medium heat. Place the fillets on the grill and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side until grill marks appear and the fish is cooked through.
    Baked Method:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the fillets on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes or until fully cooked.
  • Serve:
Transfer the cooked fillets to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh herbs and lemon wedges. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

For the best results, use fresh, high-quality triggerfish and adjust the seasoning to suit your personal taste. Always ensure the fish is cooked through before serving.
