Ingredients
  

  • 9–12 uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup water (to help cook noodles)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add garlic, marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  • Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.
  • Pour 1/2 cup water evenly around edges (helps noodles cook).
  • Cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake for 40 minutes covered.
  • Remove foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
