- 9–12 uncooked lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup water (to help cook noodles)
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add garlic, marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.
Pour 1/2 cup water evenly around edges (helps noodles cook).
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake for 40 minutes covered.
Remove foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
