Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 tsp taco seasoning (optional)
  • Optional Garnish: chopped cilantro, sour cream, avocado slices, lime wedges

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Season the chicken (optional): Sprinkle chicken with taco seasoning on both sides for extra flavor.
  • Add salsa: Place chicken breasts in a baking dish. Pour salsa evenly over the chicken.

  • Add cheese: Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 5 more minutes until melted.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts.
  • Use homemade salsa for a more personalized flavor.
  • Baking time may vary depending on thickness of the chicken.
