Ingredients
  

  • 2 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a clean bowl, beat egg whites with salt until soft peaks form.
  • Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  • Gently fold in vanilla, chocolate chips, and nuts.
  • Drop spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Place tray in oven, turn oven off immediately, and leave overnight or for 6–8 hours without opening the door.
  • Remove and store once completely cooled.

Notes

  • Use clean, grease-free bowls for best meringue results.
  • Do not open the oven while cookies are setting.
  • Humidity can affect crispness.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • Best consumed within 3–4 days.
