French Onion Gnocchi Recipe

French Onion Gnocchi combines caramelized onions, beef broth, and soft gnocchi topped with melted cheese for a rich and comforting dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 package (16 oz) gnocchi
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized (about 25 minutes).
  • Add thyme and white wine (if using), stirring to deglaze the pan.
  • Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  • In a separate pot, cook gnocchi according to package instructions and drain.
  • Add cooked gnocchi to the skillet with onions and broth. Stir to coat evenly.
  • Sprinkle Gruyère and Parmesan cheese on top, cover, and let the cheese melt.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute beef broth with vegetable broth.
  • Use homemade gnocchi for a more authentic touch.
