- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 package (16 oz) gnocchi
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized (about 25 minutes).
Add thyme and white wine (if using), stirring to deglaze the pan.
Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
In a separate pot, cook gnocchi according to package instructions and drain.
Add cooked gnocchi to the skillet with onions and broth. Stir to coat evenly.
Sprinkle Gruyère and Parmesan cheese on top, cover, and let the cheese melt.
Serve hot and enjoy!
