- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cubed
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)
- Powdered sugar or maple syrup for serving
Grease a baking dish with butter.
Add cubed bread to the dish.
Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg in a bowl.
Pour the mixture evenly over the bread.
Press down gently so the bread absorbs the custard.
Cover and refrigerate for 6–8 hours or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
