Ingredients
  

For the Fried Chicken:

  • 8 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Creamy Gravy:

  • 1/4 cup pan drippings
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Soak chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Mix flour, paprika, garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Dredge chicken in seasoned flour, coating evenly.
  • Heat oil in a skillet and fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and keep warm.
  • For gravy, use pan drippings and stir in flour to make a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in milk, stirring until thick and creamy.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Pour gravy over fried chicken before serving.
